Living in the west end of Glasgow, Lauren finds herself surrounded by the clutter of tenement windows and the pattern of trees; the intertwining of nature and old architecture within this setting is what inspires her. When combined, these two elements create an intriguing new vocabulary. Lauren is also fascinated by the eclectic mix of forms, material, colour and pattern found within and around the home and our natural tendency to attach meaning to the objects we surround ourselves with there.
Lauren's work explores the composition of different surfaces and abstracted forms. With her drawings she enjoys recycling found remnants of interesting paper; layering them with line and splashes of colour. She aims to capture a spontaneous and playful quality in her pieces. It is also her hope that the viewer and wearer enjoy finding their own memories and stories associated with the imagery used.
